This is a new webinar focusing on the important role internal motivation plays in the child's ability to process food experiences and make meaningful progress in feeding. You will learn the role of the brain-body connection in recognizing, interpreting and integrating external information and internal body signals, and how to create meaningful food experiences that will facilitate purposeful mealtime participation and skill development.
Internal Motivation: The Catalyst of Change in Feeding Development
List external motivations to eat and explain the problems with using them in feeding
List internal motivations to eat and explain why they are important for motor development, sensory processing and the development of self-regulation
List the internal and external barriers to recognizing and responding to internal motivation
Explain how to facilitate internal motivations in mealtimes and feeding therapy
Certificates will be issued verifying participation in 2 hours of continuing education once full attendance has been verified. Please allow one week for certificates to be sent. Check with your professional organizations' licensing bodies to determine exactly what may be accepted for you. This course is eligible for ASHA’s professional development hour requirements. This intermediate level course is appropriate for occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, assistants, educators, early intervention providers, parents/caregivers, and other professionals (social workers, nurses, registered dietitians, etc.) working with children with feeding challenges.
